| Shin Splints
Shin splints are caused by
very small tears in muscles of the leg at their point of attachment
to the shin (The lower leg).
Posterior shin splints occur
on the inside (medial) part of the leg along the tibia. Pronation
contributes to posterior shin splints.
Anterior shin splints
occur in the front portion of the shin bone (tibia). Anterior
shin splints are caused by muscular imbalances, inadequate shock
absorption or toe running. Pronation
contributes to anterior shin splints.
A shin splint sufferer may
feel an aching pain after a brisk walk or running. If untreated
the pain may become more intense. Small bumps and tender areas
may become evident adjacent to the shinbone. |
